Model Team, Living The Dream
Model team? Nope, it’s not a new bizarre football team full of impossibly beautiful people. It’s a concept. When we think of models, we think of individuals, we rarely think of models as a collective. However, there are times where a ‘model team’, as it were, is highly ideal.
The Dream Model Team
Perhaps the best example out there right now of a model team is the Victoria’s Secret Angels. There is not one woman in the group who lets the side down; it’s true teamwork! With their lingerie, stunningly toned bodies, and of course, those wings, it’s hard to imagine the modelling world without them.
Together, the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio, Kendall Jenner and Shanina Shaik look absolutely flawless on catwalks and in shoots, and we imagine that this is great for morale. Nobody wants to be the one letting the model team down!
Of course, everyone has their favourite models, and so it’s always great when you get to see the ones you like best working together. From a designer’s perspective, a model team works if a group of models all have a similar ‘look’ – for example, bohemian, or perhaps gender-neutral. This is very exciting to work on creating such ‘looks’ to create a theme overall.
The Other Kind Of Model Team
Of course, in the grand scheme of things, the fashion world doesn’t just exist to make big names out of models! There are entire teams dedicated to making the models look fantastic so that the clothes can do all the talking. The better the models look, the more respected brands will be. So, there is a dedicated model team on every shoot or runway to ensure that this is absolutely the case every single time. Sometimes a ‘dream team’ isn’t just about a set of amazing models.
The model team itself will usually consist of a range of people, including:
- A Make Up Artist (known in the industry as an MUA)
- A Hairstylist
- A Photographer
- A Director
- Assistants
There are likely to be so many more people in a model team; such as representatives from the agency and the brand, however, the size of such an operation will depend on the level you’re at and the level of the job itself.
So, remember that in modelling it’s not all about you, the individual model. It’s all part of a bigger picture, and that’s a pretty great thing to be involved in!
Are you a model? What’s the best team you’ve ever worked with?
